The Parma Heights Fire Department is a professional organization that strives to exceed the expectations of the community and our organization. We are focused on protecting the lives and property through effective planning, fire suppression, fire prevention, rescue, public education and professional development training. It is our number one priority to provide world class public safety to all citizens and visitors while remaining fiscally responsible to our community. The Parma Heights Fire Department has a proud tradition of providing World Class Fire Protection and Emergency Medical Services to the citizens of Parma Heights, located in the southwest area of Cuyahoga County, Ohio. In 2021, the department responded to 3,786 calls for service of which 82% of those calls were for medical emergencies. The Parma Heights Fire Department has a minimum manning of 6 and is staffed by 30 full-time members which include:

      • Fire Chief
      • Assistant Fire Chief
      • 1 fire Training/Fire Prevention Lieutenant
      • 6 Shift Lieutenants
      • 21 Firefighter/Paramedics

The Parma Heights Fire Department was evaluated in 2021 by the Insurance Service Office (ISO) Public Protection Classification Program, attaining the ISO rank of 2.  Only the top 4% of fire departments in the United States have an ISO rating of 3 or better.  This is just one example of the commitment to safety and service the city of Parma Heights has made to its residents.

The department responds to emergencies with the following primary apparatus:

      • 1 – 2010 Sutphen triple combination pumper (also equipped with Advanced Life Support EMS Equipment and Jaws of Life) 
      • 1 – 1995 Sutphen 90 foot aerial platform (also equipped with Advanced Life Support EMS Equipment and Jaws of Life)
      • 2 – ALS ambulance/rescue squads
        – 2022 F450 Demers Ambulance
        – 2018 Braun Ambulance

And support or reserve apparatus:

      • 1 – 2006 Sutphen triple combination pumper
      • 1 – ALS ambulance/rescue squad
      • 1 – equipment truck/tow vehicle
      • 1 – heavy/technical rescue trailer
      • 3 – staff/command vehicles
      • The department provides Fire Prevention, Code Enforcement and Fire Investigation services as required by the Ohio Revised Code and Ohio Fire Code.   

The Southwest Emergency Response Team is a specialized rescue team comprised of members from the 19 communities and two regional agencies that it covers.

The Parma Heights Fire Department has several members that serve on the SERT team covering multiple disciplines ranging from the roles of new operator all the way up to team coordinator.
